TENET THREE: Real-Time Cumulative Growth

Enid Public School ’s goal for the E-Career Portfolio Project is to increase student self-knowledge and self-advocacy. Since 1999, EPS counselors (grades eight through twelve) have utilized individual and group counseling in addressing students' self-concept, developmental needs, and interpersonal skills. Integrated across the grade levels, students have been provided the opportunity to explore occupations in career development program. Additionally, the E-Career Portfolio Project has addressed the needs of diverse student populations.

The intent of this district is to provide continuous development of the E-Career Portfolio Project, unique to Oklahoma employability, which focuses on helping students receive intensive career guidance. The E-Career Portfolio Project will begin in grade eight where the district will assess student learning styles, career interests, and aptitudes. In the ninth grade, students will participate in guidance activities that emphasize teamwork, use of leisure time, and conflict resolution. A Social Science Economic Education Program will emphasize the relationship between work and learning. The second annual student/parent/advisor E-Career Portfolio conference will take place in the spring, and students will set goals for the upcoming year.

The E-Career Portfolio of the future will be made available through specially designed crystal reports and will serve as evidence of the student’s career interests and credentials. The School’s Inoperability Framework and Zone Integrated Server will allow data sharing between employees and universities upon request. A student’s portfolio, including ACT/SAT based assessments, will be made available as early as the student’s sophomore year of high school. Examples of E-Career Portfolio crystal reports for student credentialing have been included in the appendix.

Full implementation of the E-Career Portfolio Program, grades eight through twelve, will require a partnership between administrators, counselors, parents, teachers and software designers. Career guidance will be implemented into separate subject areas and in a specific course, such as "Technology Education" at the junior high school level, and will be infused in other instructional disciplines through the twelfth grade.
