Medications

At Enid Public Schools, medications for chronic illnesses such as:

  • asthma
  • diabetes
  • epilepsy
  • attention deficit hyperactivity disorder
  • behavior disorders
  • life-threatening allergic reactions

may be given to students by school nurses and unlicensed trained school personnel.  Medications for infections, headaches, minor aches and pains or allergies need to be given by parents or guardians.

 The following requirements need to be met before a student may receive medications at school:

  1. Prescription medications must be in a prescription bottle labeled with the student's name, the name of the prescriber, the name of the medication, the dose, and the specific time the medication is to be given at school.
  2. Each medication must be accompanied by a medication authorization form signed by the parent and completed by the prescriber with specific directions for when the medication is to be given. New forms must be signed and a new prescription bottle presented at the beginning of each school year and whenever a medication, dose or time is changed. 
  3. For safety reasons, parents must bring medications to school.  All medications are kept in the school office unless the student has permission to carry the medication.  Up to a month supply of medication may be brought to school.

Student safety is of the utmost priority when administering medications to students at Enid Public Schools.  We appreciate the support of parents with our efforts to ensure their children receive the best care when they are at school.
