Comprehend Part II (Secondary Counselors)

Description

Accountability in Oklahoma's educational system is no longer an option. Student test data are a major component of accountability and the ability to accurately use these data will be a significant factor in improving education. Test data analysis is a skill that will benefit educators from the state level to the classroom level. Teachers and administrators who can effectively analyze their own test scores will be able to identify areas of need, address the needs and improve student learning at a much faster pace.

Scope of Presentation
The in-service will begin with a demo using Comprehend to look at the 2003-2004-2005-2006 district testing data.  The presenter will demonstrate how to disaggregate testing data that will allow the participants to look at individual and group reports.  Participants will also learn how to rank order the SOPI scores for specific subject/grades to help identify strengths/weaknesses of specific learning objectives. Participants will learn how to use

o   the Internet to go to the SDE website on student assessment information

o   testing information to make informed data driven decisions

o   SMART Goals for the development of action plans.

Online Harcourt Math Lower Elementary
Have you wanted to know more on how to integrate Harcourt technology into your Math program? Now by special arrangement you can enroll in an in-service that will provide lower and upper elementary teachers with hands-on technology Math tips. These in-service will be available for one lower elementary and one higher elementary teacher per school site. If you are interested in enrolling please consult your building principal for selection and steps to online enrollment. Teachers who are selected to attend will be responsible for providing in-service for other teachers in their buildings.

Description: Harcourt will provide the teachers with hands on technology training of our math products.  We will cover class set up, how to make assignments and how to generate a test.  We will walk the teachers through the Math Center games and skills while showing them how to pinpoint student weaknesses.  We will also walk them through our online products and how they can save them time and energy as they customize the math program to meet their needs.
