Enid Public Schools Cybersecurity

The arrival of new computers at Enid Public Schools, coupled with Internet services, has provided new opportunities, but also security issues, for both the district and teachers. Because Enid Public Schools district are using more computers-and providing more online access-this valuable resource comes with tremendous responsibility, especially for school personnel who have the responsibility of monitoring and overseeing the use of technology in their classrooms. If district personnel fail to acknowledge this responsibility, community members may perceive school officials as negligent in their responsibilities regarding Internet use on school property.

Negligence, or acts or omissions demonstrating a failure to use reasonable care, can be no more tolerated in the virtual world than in the real world. In addition to protecting the districts liability, school officials have an obligation to preserve students' privacy, property, and well being in this new online environment. The building blocks for cybersecurity outlined on this website are designed to help our district avoid possible liabilities resulting from students' and/or staff members' misuse of school computers and technology systems. These building blocks create an interwoven system of support that equally distributes responsibility for protecting students during online use.

This website is organized according to the three building blocks for cybersecurity: school responsibility, teacher and student responsibility, and home and community responsibility.
