ITVC Project Overview

On September 14, 2005, Enid Public Schools will begin implementation of Interactive Television Video Conferencing (ITVC) across Enid’s Kindergarten to Grade 12 education system. The ITVC conferencing program will involve fifteen local sites with remote capabilities.

"ITVC gives Enid Public Schools more reach to teach and offers another way to deliver education and enrich learning experiences for students," said Information Technology Director, Michael King. "We want to help each of the fifteen participating sites in the project to establish ITVC services so that teachers, students and administrators can begin using this new technology."

Student learning is improved through ITVC technology by:

  • connecting several classrooms from different places or to a single teaching location;
  • expanding access to outside experts and learning opportunities beyond the traditional classroom environment, or making interactive virtual fieldtrips possible;
  • enabling access to international learning experiences and events which develop cultural awareness and global perspectives;
  • providing unique educational services to students with special needs.

Video-conferencing technology supports teachers by:

  • offering professional development opportunities with content experts that otherwise would not be possible;
  • creating mentoring opportunities between educators in different locations and facilitating the development of professional learning communities;
  • connecting EPS classrooms to classrooms across Oklahoma, working with their students to find innovative ways to enhance learning.
